Trap crop is used to protect the principal crop from pest that are abundant and destructive. They can be a different species or variety planted along the principal crop. Marigold is the perfect example of trap crop for tomato, they protect tomato plants from root-knot nematodes. Following are the benefits of planting trap crops:
