What toxic flowering plants grow in garden that I should be aware of?

Some common garden plants are toxic to humans, if ingested or touched. Here are some flowering plants that look aesthetic but are toxic and you need to be aware of as they might grow in your garden:

  1. Oleander– Extremely toxic especially leaves and flowers. If ingested even a small amount can kill an adult.

  1. Foxglove: Can be deadly, contain heart-affecting toxins. When ingested can lead to serious health issues even death.

  1. Lily of the Valley: If consumed can affect your heart rhythm.

  1. Hydrangea: Contains cyanogenic glycosides, which release cyanide. It’s important to keep away from this plant as hydrangea can give you irritation on touching.

  1. Rhododendron & Azalea: All parts of the plant are toxic especially, leaves or flowers can cause serious respiratory problems.

  1. Datura: Hallucinogenic and toxic plant. Seeds and flowers are highly poisonous.
