I am facing Poor pollination issue in my fruiting plants. How can I get them pollinated?
Poor pollination might be a common issue in container gardening where natural pollinators might be scarce. In case you have potted plants on your balcony, hand pollination is one of the easiest and most effective method. Use a small paintbrush, cotton swab, or directly take a male flower and gently transfer pollen to the female flower’s stigma. In case you have self-pollinating plants gently shake the flowers. Plant pollinator-friendly flowers like lavender and marigolds near your fruiting plants to attract bees and butterflies. If your plants are in a sheltered balcony, lack of wind might be an issue. Install a small fan on low speed to help spread pollen. If all these methods don’t work look for self-pollinating or parthenocarpic fruiting plant varieties like cucumber and tomatoes that don’t depends on pollinators.
