Homemade Organic Growth Hormone for Kitchen Gardens
Traditional Indian organic bio-fertilizer made from natural ingredients like cow dung, cow urine, jaggery, pulse flour, and soil. It is rich in beneficial microbes, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and growth-promoting substances, making it a complete growth hormone for plants. Think of it as a probiotic drink for your plants
Ingredients Needed
To prepare Living Soil Tonic, mix 1 kg of fresh cow dung (rich in microbes and organic matter), 500 ml of cow urine (a natural nitrogen source and pest repellent), 100 gm of jaggery (which feeds the microbes), 100 gm of gram flour (for proteins and nitrogen), and a handful of garden soil (to introduce local microbial cultures) in 10 liters of water, which acts as the fermentation medium.
Preparation Method
Mix all the ingredients in a plastic or earthen drum filled with water. Stir the mixture well, cover loosely with a cloth, and keep in a shaded place. Stir it twice daily to provide oxygen. After 5–7 days of fermentation, your Living Soil Tonic will be ready to use.
How to Use Living Soil Tonic
As a soil drench, dilute 1 liter of tonic in 10 liters of water and pour it near the roots every 15 days.
As a foliar spray, strain the liquid, dilute, and spray directly on plant leaves for faster absorption.
For seed treatment, soak seeds in diluted tonic for 30 minutes before sowing to improve germination and resistance.
Benefits
Living Soil Tonic accelerates seed germination, enhances root development, and boosts plant growth. It improves flowering and fruiting while enriching the soil with beneficial microbes. Over time, it makes the soil healthier and naturally fertile. Additionally, natural enzymes act as protection against pests and diseases.
Tips
Always use Living Soil Tonic fresh within 15 days. Apply it during cool hours of the day (morning or evening) for best absorption. For long-term benefits, combine it with mulching to lock in nutrients. Regular use not only improves plant health but also enhances the taste and nutrition of your vegetables.
