Cool Composting in Small Space

How can I make cool compost in small Spaces?

If you are planning for cool composting in your small area, following are the steps to help you:

  1. Select a Bin: Choose a plastic bin, wooden box, or a simple pile in a corner will work. Ensure proper drainage.

  2. Layering of Organic Materials: Put alternate between fruit peels, vegetable scraps, coffee grounds and dry leaves, shredded paper, cardboard, etc.

  3. Keep Moist: Compost should be moist and spongy so check and add water if it gets too dry.

  4. Let It Sit: Unlike hot compost, there is no need to turn it often. Wait 6–12 months for it to decompose.

  5. Harvest: Once it’s looks dark and crumbly with earthly smell mix it into potting soil, use it as mulch around plants or use compost tea for plants.
