1. Formal upright style / chokkan- the first main branch should be positioned at one third of trunk height.
   

   

2. Informal upright style/ moyogi- the tree has a bend pattern on the trunk
   

3. Slanting style/ shakan- the trunk diagonally flows in left or right direction.
